Charlie (Chuck) MacConnach, 74, passed away at home on July 28, 2025, from advanced heart failure. He lived in Grandville (Byron Township), Michigan.

Born July 5, 1951, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Charlie was a tech enthusiast who turned his passion into a career. He worked at Trinity Health in tech support from 1997 until retiring in 2024. Before that, he held various roles at Eagle Ottawa Leather Company in Grand Haven from 1977 to 1994.

Charlie was also a longtime local musician and founding member of Rockfish, a classic rock trio that performed for over 30 years. He wrote original music and played alongside bandmates Fred Elkins and Bruce Bowditch.

In his own words: “Charlie was a man of peace who would like people to stop fighting politicians’ wars. Everyone except the megalomaniac wants to live their life and be happy. If there should be a war, it should be on people who want to rule everything. Governments should be controlled, not the people. Perhaps someday they will produce an in-vitro test that will reveal who the people are who want to rule only for greed and control over other people.”

He is survived by the love of his life, wife Susan; children, Chuck (Kate), George (Ruth), Carl (Jill), Shaina; daughter-in-law, Megan (Josh); ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Crystal (Ernie).

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
