Carole Mackus

Carole Ann Mackus (Groothuis), age 84, of Jenison, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family. Carole was blessed with the gift of hospitality, always serving and putting others before herself. She was the First Jenison CRC secretary for many years. Carole was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bernard; her parents, John and Margaret Groothuis; and her brother, David Groothuis. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Luann and Leland Rambo, Doug Mackus, Gail and Chris Hodyna, Joan and Vern Hirdes; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam and Kathy Groothuis, Dan and Sheryl Groothuis; sister-in-law, Sandy Groothuis; loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, 11 am at Baldwin St. Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. John Witvliet officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sunset Association Legacy Fund.
