Carol “Randi” Nickels passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday April 8, 2023. She was born on November 5th 1948, the third of four daughters of the late William and Lois Randolph of Spring Lake, Michigan.
Randi graduated from Ferris State University in 1970 with a degree in Business Education. While attending Ferris, she met Dennis Nickels, the love of her life. The couple married in June 1970 and celebrated their golden anniversary before Dennis’ passing in November 2020.
Randi loved spending time with her family. She made every moment special by being the light of every party and the perfect hostess. She was fortunate to have many dear friends with whom she shared shenanigans and love. She spent her free time golfing, playing games, solving puzzles, and consuming only the best walleye and perch.
Without a doubt, Randi was happiest when she was out on the water. She and Denny enjoyed more than 25 years of boating together, cruising from port to port with their granddaughters and friends. Her granddaughters remember every trip being memorable and full of adventures. Randi also had fond memories of traveling with her mother and sisters, including adventures in Montana, New Orleans, and a treasured Alaskan cruise.
Randi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis W. Nickels; parents, William and Lois Randolph; parents in law, Edward and Barbara Nickels; sister, Sharon Randolph; and brothers in law, Dale Niemi and Richard Gordon. Randi’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughters Katie Howard and Sarah Nickels; son and daughter in law, Andrew Howard and Jamie Sheren; granddaughters Emma and Julia Howard; sisters Diane Banwart and Linda Randolph; in-laws, Lew (Diane) Banwart, Edward (Jane) Nickels, Phillip (Rose) Nickels, Patricia Wagstaff and Kathleen (Alexander) VanderWeert; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7th from 2:00-4:00pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf (MKD) Funeral Home located at 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508. All are invited to share stories and sentiments in honor of Randi during the service.
