With deep faith in the promise of eternal life and gratitude for the gift of his 92 years among us, we announce the passing of Paul O. Spielmaker, who peacefully entered into the loving embrace of our Lord on May 30, 2026. A devoted Catholic, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Paul lived his life guided by faith, service to others, and a passion for hunting and the outdoors. He was a proud graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central and retired from Steelcase after 22 years of dedicated service. His unwavering trust in God, commitment to his family, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. While we mourn his earthly passing, we rejoice in the hope of the Resurrection and take comfort in knowing that he now rests in the peace of Christ. Paul is lovingly survived by his wife of 70 years, Sharon; his children, Tom (Angela) Spielmaker and Mike Spielmaker; his grandchildren, Dylan Spielmaker (Laurel Donnelly), Ashton (Sam) Spielmaker, Keaton (Taylor) Spielmaker, and Kennedy Spielmaker (Patrick Hayford); and his great-grandchildren, Emery Spielmaker, Rowen Spielmaker, and Jace Spielmaker. He is also survived by his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Pat and Dave Allen, Marcia and Doug Halloran, and Dee DeVries, along with many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and wonderful neighbors. Paul was preceded in death by his son, Steve Spielmaker; his parents, Nora and Clarence Spielmaker; his brother-in-law, Jack DeVries; and his close friends who were like brothers to him, leaving him as the last man standing. A private burial has taken place. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul's life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Following the Mass, all are welcome to gather with the family for fellowship and remembrance of Paul's extraordinary life. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Corewell Health Hospice or to a charity of your choice in honor of Paul.
