Carleton Lee Nordyke

Carleton Lee Nordyke, age 91, moved to Heaven to be with his beloved wife, Janet, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. He was born on July 6, 1930 to Dennis and Josephine Nordyke. Carleton was a 1949 graduate of Grand Rapids Central High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an electronics repair supervisor staff sergeant until his discharge in January of 1953. Carleton was employed with Wolverine Brass, Lear, Inc, Bysma Dairy, and retired from Old Kent Bank as a branch manager after 39 years. He married Mary Van Houten in 1953; together they had five children during their twenty-year union; Sheila, Steven, Spencer, Shelley, and Scott. In October of 1975, Carleton married Janet Susan (Post) Nordyke, and enjoyed many years together until her passing on April 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Joyce, Lynne, Donna, and Donnie; and his wife, Janet. A memorial service with reception following will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with his son, Rev. Spencer Nordyke officiating. Burial Resurrection Cemetery.
