Calvin Stroud, age 71, of Byron Center went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 7, 2025. He lived a full and meaningful life, dedicating his life to God, the Navy, his family and friends. He was known for his hard work, faith and kindness that touched the lives of many through his community, work, friendships and hobbies. If anyone ever needed anything, Calvin would be the first to help out however he could. He would give you the shirt off his back.
His family are those he chose. Calvin was strong willed and opinionated, holding to his core beliefs. He made people laugh, telling stories and jokes. He would go through the drive through and was able to make the employees laugh and next thing you know, the food was on the house.
Calvin was a member of Kentwood’s Volunteer Police. VIP. Volunteering to help any and all. He was a member of the US Chess Foundation. He also called Bingo for Kentwood’s Park and Recreation. He was great with fire arms and target shooting. Calvin proudly served in the US Navy. Retiring after many years of service to our country.
A memorial service honoring Calvin’s life will be held 2 pm Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Following the service, family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend at Unity Reformed Church, 4450 Poinsettia Ave. SE, Kentwood. Though he is no longer with us, the Calvin Stroud’s legacy of love, faith and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
