Jeffrey Martin Schumacher

June 20, 2026

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, uncle, cousin and friend – Jeffrey Martin Schumacher, age 57, on Saturday, June 20, 2026 of Caledonia/Wayland.

Lovingly chosen and cherished by his late parents, Bill and Lynn Schumacher. Joining the Schumacher family as their third child. Jeff lived on his own terms and never allowed his circumstances to interrupt his zest and love of life. And he lived it full throttle. Running track in high school to the admiration of his team and coaches for a personal best every time, “Clear the track, we still have a sprinter” was heard every track meet. Card shark Uno player…perhaps not, but he certainly loved laying down the draws, skips and reverses to stack your hand full of cards, always with a smart-aleck grin and an exclamation of, “How about this…want a couple more?” Known for his full on, larger than life love for his Detroit Lions and Michigan State Spartans. Yet, never overshadowing his deep in your bones love for music: Rob Zombie, Metallica, Fly Leaf, anything head banger with a raucous beat and a sweet riff would most certainly capture Jeff’s attention. Our mom used to say, “Jeff doesn’t have the beat, the beat’s got Jeff!”

Jeff will be missed and forever remembered by his brother, Bill Schumacher, Jr. and girlfriend, Jocelyn Bryant; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Tim Heffner; niece and her husband, Keagan and Ethan Bonzelaar; nephew and his girlfriend, Brody Heffner and Kenz Worden; uncle, Terry Herbruck; cousin and her husband, Amy Herbruck and Mike Schoenborn.

Big thanks and admiration for some very special friends: Michael Naughton -  “Brother in Rock”, Ethan Buist - video games and pizza for the win! As well as big brothers, Scott Schaafsma, Mike Kowalczyk, and Todd O’Connor and special “sis” Nikki Naughton. Our family would also like to thank the Team at The Laurels of Sandy Creek that not only took care of Jeff but made him feel like he was home with family.

Please join the family for memories, stories and laughs at a visitation scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. Caledonia, MI 49316.
