Brenda Kay Kernen

Brenda Kay Kernen, age 52, of Dorr, was called to her heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 9, 2017. Brenda was a loving mother, grandmother, and companion who treasured her family. She was kind and giving and always put others before herself. She will be lovingly remembered by her best friend and companion, Steve Chase; her children, Bryse and Melissa Vanderwood, Shane Vanderwood and Sam Liscombe, Robert Kernen and Christina Trumbull, Jacob Kernen and Ashley Shuman; grandchildren, Tavin, and Ava Vanderwood, Amber, and Kyle Kernen, Grayson Vanderwood; her parents, Hazel and Mike Henderson, Lyle and Linda Morrison; sister, Gail Hutchinson; brother, Steven Morrison, step-brother, John Henderson; step-sister, Debra Dunning; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services and interment will be held on Saturday 11am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (Chapel), 2894 Patterson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 4-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr., Grandville.
