Bonnie Van Drie

Bonnie Lou (Van Zalen) Van Drie, age 73, entered her heavenly home on Monday, January 16, 2023. Bonnie was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 2, 1949, graduated from Unity Christian High School and Pine Rest Nursing School. Bonnie worked for many years as a nurse, finding her calling as a home health nurse where she lovingly cared for adults and children alike. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. But above all, she will be remembered as a faithful child of God who relied on God’s word and prayer throughout her life. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Marion (Timmers) Van Zalen. She is survived by her children, Chad (Tina) Van Drie, Brian (Kara) Van Drie, and Amy (Rich) Deklyen; seven grandchildren, Mateo Lewis, Eli, Nate, and Brynn Van Drie, Colin, Aidan, and Ella Deklyen, Nyajimma Yoel, and Rebecca and Lidie Mubiyayi; two great-grandchildren, Behira Wouwrut and Varnill “King” Johnson; her siblings, Dan (Karen) Van Zalen, Ruth (John) Hoekwater, and Shirley (Dave) Mannes. Bonnie’s family wishes to thank Georgetown and Cambridge Manor Memory Care Units and the entire staff for their compassionate and loving care for Bonnie in her final years. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. John Hoekwater officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 26, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Baruch Senior Ministries - Cambridge and Georgetown Manors.
