Biruta Miller

Biruta “Bea”, “Ruta”, “Rita” Miller nee Ziedins passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Bea was born in Riga, Latvia on November 28, 1936 to Rolands Ziedins and Anna Marija Akmentins. She left Latvia at the age of seven with her family, a jump ahead of the Russian army. She spent four years in Germany of which two of them were in a concentration camp. The family then escaped and spent eight years in France before coming to the US in 1956. Bea married William O. Miller in 1961. They had many happy years together of work and kids, and they shared the enjoyment of golf and bowling. She left behind her pains and is now heading for new adventures. She will be greatly missed. Bea is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her sons, Alex Q (Kathy) and Eric R. (Bobbi); grandchildren, William S. Miller, Nicholas A. Miller, Jennifer Gillim, Joshua Case, Troy Case, and Jordan Case; brother, Erik (Ausma) Ziedins; her brother-in-law, Jerry (Marian) Miller, godson Paul Ziedins and many loving friends. Funeral Services for Bea will be held Thursday at 11 am at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral chapel Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
