Betty Louise Fellows

May 15, 2025

Betty Louise Fellows, age 99, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on May 15, 2025. Betty was best known for being fiercely independent and determined. She was a voracious traveler and enjoyed driving until she was 92, including solo trips all the way from Northern Michigan to Florida! Her winters in Florida were full of adventures in the outdoors, including walks on the beach to collect seashells, bike rides, water aerobics, and puzzle solving with friends. In addition to travel, Betty was also a prolific crafter. She was most often found watching a crime show and cross-stitching, sewing, or crocheting. She passed along the knowledge and love of crafting (along with the crime shows) to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved to dote upon. Betty will always be remembered affectionately for her dry sense of humor and sheer indomitability. When asked how she was doing, her most common reply was “I’m alive and kickin". A knee and two hip replacements couldn’t stop her from doing the things she loved, including jumping on a trampoline with her great-grandchildren. Her many catchphrases and jokes remain an indelible source of joy and laughter for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Fellows, Jr., her son, Jack L. Fellows, her parents, Charles and Hazel Andrews, and by her three brothers, Lawrence (Margie) Andrews, Gerald Andrews, and Roger (Patricia) Andrews. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jacqueline (Daniel) Hill, Renee (Joseph) Sivins, and her great grandchildren Emily, Holly, and Jacob Hill, Jackson Fellows, Megan, and Alyssa Sivins, her nieces Deborah (Dan) Hawley, Sandra Hockstra (Steve), nephews Charles (Angela) Andrews and Roger (Jennifer) Andrews Jr., as well as several great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. S.E., Kentwood, Chaplain Caleb Walcott officiating.  A private burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday an hour prior to services. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice in Betty's name.
