Betty Lou (Wiersma) Kuiper

Betty Lou (Wiersma) Kuiper of Holland formerly of Grand Rapids passed away on July 2, 2016 after a valiant fight with pneumonia and sepsis.  Betty Lou was born in Detroit 1934 and adopted by John and Elizabeth (Troost) Wiersma. Betty Lou married Dan Kuiper in 1955 and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Betty Lou was a beautiful example of grace; she lived with Multiple Sclerosis since 2000 and was a survivor of breast cancer. Whenever she was asked how she was doing she would respond, "Just fine!". She loved to laugh, she loved her family and she loves the Lord.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Marilyn Kuiper and brother-in-law John Veen. She is survived by her husband Dan Kuiper, her children Doug (Aubrey) Kuiper of AZ, Paula (Blake) De Jonge of Spring Lake and Melissa (David) Wikkerink of Canada. Her Grandchildren Blair Kuiper, Michaela De Jonge, Ezekiel De Jonge, Christian Wikkerink, Caitlin Wikkerink,and Nathan Wikkerink. Her sister Shirley Veen, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Joanne Kuiper. Nephews and Nieces: Scott Kuiper, Phillip (Brenda) Veen, Mary (Eric) Ferwerda, Valerie Veen, Pat (Wayne) Langeland, Al (Sara) Veen and Rick (Rhonda) Veen.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday 11:00 am Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Chapel (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. 49418 with Rev. Scott Greenway officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday July 6, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Funeral Home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Michigan Chapter.
