
Betty Lou Magoon, aged 87, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at her home of 60 years in Belmont, Michigan.
Betty was the 8th child of 12, born to William and Lena Lovell. She grew up in Comstock Park, Michigan. There were 8 boys and 4 girls and Betty was the last surviving sibling.
She met the man who would become her husband when he would hang out with her brothers. His name was Ralph Gailen Magoon and they were married for 52 years, until his death in 2009. Together, they had 5 children.
Betty worked for 31 years at Evans Products before she retired at the age of 63. She rediscovered her love of sewing and made each child, grandchild and great-grandchild a beautiful heirloom quilt (or two) as well as crocheted afghan blankets and doilies. She was also an avid reader and loved word search puzzles.
Betty is survived by her children: Cindy Kaiserlain, Jeanette Wenzel, Donna Workman, Ralph (Deanna) Magoon and Connie (Jeff) Parks. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Eric, Lisa (Earl), Ryan, Tim, Sarah, Tom, Beth, Shelley (Matt), Ben (Sarah), Kelsey (Devon), Megan (Josh), Mike (Ivy) and step-grandson, Jeremey; great-grandchildren, Andy (Kim), Kamren, Landon, Macy, Kinsley, Holden; step great-grandchildren, Amour, Milli, Kanai, Andrew, Chance, Madison, Payton; sisters-in-law, Tootie Lovell, Patricia Lovell, Sandy Nowak and Linda Lovell who was also her best friend; numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, at 11 am at MKD Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI with Pastor Gale Tein officiating. Burial will take place at Blythefield Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday, September 4, from 5-7 pm and also from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
