
Bernie “June” Diekevers, age 85, of Grandville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Bernie was born on the family farm in McBain, MI, along with his five brothers and five sisters. He graduated from GRCHS in 1957 and worked as a driver salesman for Grantex for over 30 years. Bernie was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend. Bernie was blessed with an extraordinary fun-loving personality and a sweet smile that made him loved and admired by all those fortunate enough to cross his path. He was especially proud of his family. He was their greatest fan. He was always quick with a hug and a word of encouragement. Bernie was also a strong man of faith who loved his church. He was a member of Eighth Reformed for over 50 years, serving many of those years on consistory. He will be deeply missed. Bernie will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Carol; his children, Tom and Patti Diekevers, Sherry and Mike Butterfield, Merrie and Doug Reamsma; grandchildren, Joe and Kristin, Sarah and Matt, Sam and Danielle, Seth and Serafina, Luke and Kaylee, Levi and Mary, Lisa and Bryan, Dave and Amy, Emily and Jonathan, Jared and Brandy; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Morren; sister-in-law, Marlene Paauwe; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: John, Rog, Wilm, Ted, Dennis, Margaret, Gertrude, Gerline, and Kathy. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Eighth Reformed Church, 841 Burton St. SW, Wyoming, 49509 with Rev. Harry Koops officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday, April 28 from 6 to 8 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
