
Bernice A. Washinifsky-Scott, age 78, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022. She was the spouse of Mr. Tulon Scott, the Unofficial Mayor of Grandville Avenue. Bernice was a graduate of Manistee High School where she was originally from. She retired from Benteler Automotive on Hagen Drive in Grand Rapids. Bernice loved to go to Bingo and to the casinos. She loved to work on her word searches and puzzles, as well as watching games shows and the Hallmark channel. She also loved to wear her red and white stripe hat just to get a reaction out of others. She kept up with dirty jokes and sometimes played jokes on her family. She was known for her heart of gold with the mouth of a sailor. Bernice has taken the final journey that it is appointed that all must take. She has joined her other half, Mr. Tulon Scott; and her stepson, Jesse Scott. For now, she has found peace. She is survived by her daughter, Karensue Washinifsky and Timothy Hart (Bernice stated to both Karensue and Timothy, she prayed to live to see Karensue meet someone like little Timmy); grandchildren, Madalyn, Luke, and Brytni (AJ Whitehead) Widner, Aaron “Bubba” Nichols; stepsons, Michael and Richard Scott; older sisters, Helen Bradford, Eileen Chandler; and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 pm Sunday, July 10 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood with Rev. Dennis Gilbert. Burial Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-2:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
