Berneth Lemmen

Berneth Lemmen, age 96, went to be with his Lord on December 26, 2023, five years to the day after the passing of his beloved wife, Elsie. Bern and Elsie were married 70 years. Bern was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Martha Lemmen; sisters, Beatrice (Jack) Feddema, and Ethel (Tune) VanderLugt; sister-in-law, Grace (Bob) DeJonge. He is survived by his much-loved children, Susan (Gaylen) Byker, Daniel (Diann) Lemmen, Katherine (Mike) Price, Rebecca (Dave) Clark; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Maurie (Lorraine) Lemmen; sister, Norma (Klaas) Kapteyn; brother-in-law, Ray (Bev) Schat; sister-in-law, Linda (Rog) Lemmen; and many nieces and nephews. Bern had a servant’s heart for his family, church, and community. He served on Christian School Boards, Church Consistory, and the Allendale Telephone Company Board of Directors. He owned his own real estate and insurance businesses. He was a Christian role model and taught his family the values of hard work and integrity. He was a good listener and lived a life of gratitude. He lived in Allendale all his life until he moved to Covenant Independent Living for the last five years. A celebration of Bern’s life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 29 at Covenant Living of the Great Lakes, 2510 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids, MI. Pastor Adam Nordyke will officiate.
