April 2, 2025

Barry K. Coffey, born on June 15, 1946, in Hudson, Michigan, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior at his home in Jenison, Michigan, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Barry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and faithful servant of the Lord who touched countless lives through his work, faith, and music.

He graduated from Coopersville High School in 1965. Shortly thereafter, Barry was drafted into the United States Army, serving honorably in South Korea from 1966-1968. Upon returning home, he worked in a few different fields before finding his calling at Radio Bible Class (now known as Our Daily Bread Ministries), where he served diligently and faithfully for 54 years.

Barry’s dedication was evident in all areas of his life, from his deep faith in his Lord and Savior to his unwavering commitment to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy (Deters) Coffey of 54 years; and their children: Lance and Lyndsey Coffey of Hudsonville, Landry and Jennifer Coffey of Hudsonville, and Courtney and Nick Jones of Jenison. He cherished each of his 10 grandchildren: Kylie Coffey, Josiah Coffey, Anna Coffey, Meric Coffey, Adrianah Jones, Brielle Coffey, Cobi Jones, Nylah Coffey, Vincent Jones, and Kingston Jones. Barry also leaves behind his siblings: Carol Coffey, Robert and Lavonne Coffey, and his twin brother, Terry and Carol Ann Coffey; and Joy’s sister, Myra and Gary Zwagerman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria and Orlyn Waterman; and his parents, Reverend Carl Coffey and Madeline (Miller) Coffey.

Known for his hardworking, compassionate, and loving nature, Barry found joy in sharing his vocal gifts. Whether singing with the Ambassador Quartet, Sounds of Joy, or singing next to his wife, he delighted in praising the Lord through music. His family and friends will always remember his powerful voice raised in worship and his steadfast devotion to the Lord and his family.
