
Barbara Jeanne DeYoung, age 91, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020. How appropriate that she rises to her heavenly home at this sacred time with her Risen Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Louis DeYoung; her brothers Roger VanDyke, Donald (Marion) VanDyke, and daughter-in-law, Lori. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Steve and Wendy, Tom and Linda, and David; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, June VanDyke; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Barb was born in Grand Rapids and baptized at Central Reformed Church where she remained a life-long and active member. She graduated from Creston High School and worked as a bookkeeper at Bennett Fuel Co., Carl Forslund Furniture and Dave’s Batteries. Barb was a wonderful artist, enjoyed needlepoint, ceramics, and her monthly Bridge gatherings. She was an amazing cook and wonderful hostess. As a dedicated member of Central Reformed Church, she became a deacon and worked on several church committees. One of her greatest pleasures was spending the summer at Gun Lake with family and friends. Barb was a resident of Story Point of Portage, MI for the last three years. Due to the current coronavirus conditions, interment has taken place at Grandville Cemetery.
