In loving memory of Barbara Bush-Lloyd, who graced this world with her presence on December 3, 1964 and left us all too soon on January 12, 2024 after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Barbara reunited with her husband and soulmate, Chris, surrounded and comforted by her family. Hailing from Wyoming, Michigan, Barbara pursued her love of country music from an early age. A perfect rendition of Stevie Nicks’ Landslide led to a record deal, and without haste, she moved to Nashville with her young boys in tow. She was lucky (and talented) enough to sing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Barbara dedicated her life to serving and caring for those around her; she was a proud mother, wife and caretaker. Her life took her on many paths, but she never lost sight of what was important to her. She accomplished her dream of owning a home in the U.P. - it is here she found a community that welcomed and loved her and Chris. She was so happy to call Barbeau her home. Barbara is survived by her mother, Roberta Slaughter, a source of unwavering strength; two sisters, Lisa James and Bobbie Hunt, who shared a lifelong bond; three sons, Randy (Maeve Carey) Tharp of West Hartford, Connecticut, Mark (Cynthia) Tharp of Morley, Michigan, Brandon (Kayleigh) Miller of Allendale, Michigan; Sara (Michael) Clark, Becca (Paul) Sheldon, Dustin Lloyd; as well as 20 grandchildren and countless friends. Barbara embraced life with conviction, hope, loyalty and a generosity that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at MKD Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville, with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. The burial will be held at Garfield Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency in memory of Barb and Chris Lloyd.
