August Beute, Jr. (June or Gus), age 79, of Byron Center, was called to his heavenly home on April 19, 2022. June was a loving, gentle, caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Laurie (Harold) Van Haitsma; sister, Betty Beute; sister-in-law Joanne Beute; and brothers-in-law, Ralph, Bob, and Steve Wiersma. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Mary Beth; his children, Shelly (Mark) Shepard, Jim (Trisha) Beute, and Holly (Ron) Poll; grandchildren, Josh VanderWal, Brittney Maring, Ron Poll III, Landon Poll, Kellan Dunlap, and Andy Beute; three great-grandchildren, Benson, Oliver and August (Gus) Livingston; brother, Bob Beute; brothers-in-law, Dave (Mary) Wiersma, Tom (Nancy) Wiersma; sister-in-law, Barbara (Larry) Steketee; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. June was a truck driver for Velting Contractors for many years. He was a charter member of the West Michigan Cushman Club and enjoyed restoring and riding Cushman motor scooters. The funeral service for August will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 23 at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th St. SW, Byron Center with Pastor Jon Alexanian presiding. Friends and relatives may meet the family from 4:30 to 7:00 pm Friday, April 22 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday both at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or Degage Ministries.
