Arlene Marie Simmons

Arlene Marie (Weidenfeller) Simmons, age 84, of Wyoming, MI was called to her eternal home on October 30, 2024. Arlene was born and raised on the family farm in Hudsonville, Michigan.  Arlene was a devoted wife and mother.  She was an avid walker and bike rider, enjoying the beautiful roads and trails of Western Michigan.   She and her husband collected cans and bottles along the way and, at one point, they had collected enough to fund a trip to Hawaii where they traveled 3 times.  They enjoyed many trips throughout the Midwest often enjoying country and  polka concerts.  Arlene enjoyed various  hobbies including painting, ceramics, and gardening. She collected many Precious Moments figurines each one with a special meaning.  She was a member of the local TOPS club and Red Hats Society where she made many special friends over the years.  Arlene enjoyed all things sweet, especially oatmeal raisin cookies! Arlene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Roger, who passed away in July; her parents Arthur and Rosella Weidenfeller, and brother Eddie Weidenfeller.  She will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Renee (VanNorman) Simmons; her sisters-in-law and their husbands, Mildred and Gale Loew, and Jolene and Lynn VanOrder; nieces and nephews; and many life-long friends.  The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Corsacare, Story Point West, and to Faith Hospice for the genuine care that Arlene received.  The family will greet visitors at 10:00- 11:00 on Tuesday, November 5 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, MI. 49509.  Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 with Rev. Larry King presiding.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Hospice, 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr. SW, Byron Center, MI. 49315.
