Arlan Potgeter

Arlan John Potgeter, age 88, of Allendale, went to his heavenly home on Friday, April 25, 2025. He formerly worked at the Oldsmobile plant in Lansing before working as a Teamster at Spartan Stores for 30 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends on their motorcycle. They also spent 25 years wintering in Florida. Arlan enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and camping. He also enjoyed tinkering with mechanical - especially motorcycles - and visiting estate sales. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents, John and Janet Potgeter; parents-in-law, Joe and Rebecca Snip; brother, Harold Potgeter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Louise and Clyde Spencer, Helen and Melvin Merritt, Don and Mary Snip, Arthur Langerak, and Edna Snip. Arlan will be lovingly remembered by his children, Deb and Jerry Rotman, Linda and Arlyn Eisen, Kevin Potgeter; grandchildren, Eric and Brienne Eisen, Katie and Josh Bekkering, Jeremy and Marie Rotman, Matt Rotman, Dan and Sara Eisen, Joe and Brianne Eisen, Sophia Potgeter; great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Paige, Raegan, Ryan, Charlotte, Adalaide, and Liam; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Snip, Ruth Langerak, Beatrice Potgeter, Bertha and Bob Timmer; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. with Pastor Ken Kruithoff officiating. Burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday from 10-11 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Green Acres of Allendale or Faith Hospice.
