Anne Marie Ferguson

Anne “Granny” Marie Ferguson, age 87, of Grandville, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Born in Freshford, Ireland, she came to the United States at age 19. While serving refreshments at dances for the military, sponsored by the YMCA, she met and fell in love with a young Marine, her future husband, Donald Ferguson. They eventually settled in Grandville, raising four children and attending St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ferguson; brother and sisters, Mick McGrath, Bea and Bob Bishop, and Helen Hewlett; sisters-in-law, Eileen Ferguson, Bonnie Ferguson; brothers-in-law, Jim Ferguson, Gary Ferguson. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Don and Deb Ferguson, Linda and John DeHaan, Mike and Penny Ferguson, Kathy Ferguson; grandchildren, Aaron and Liz Ferguson, Mathieu and Lisa DeHaan, Kristen and Dave Koetje, Sean and Aiko Ferguson, Tressa Ziegler, Brian and Lisa Ferguson, Rebecca Frazier, Jason and Jamie Ferguson, Dustin and Jackie Grose-Ferguson; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Pat McGrath; sister-in-law, Moira McGrath; brothers-in-law, Don Hewlett, Richard Ferguson; many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Avenue SW, Grandville, with Rev. Chris Rouech, Celebrant. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be at church Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Pius X Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
