Anna Viening

On Saturday afternoon, March 11, 2017, the Lord took Anne by the hand and led her to the home prepared for her. Anna Bajema Viening, age 89, was born in Rock Valley, Iowa to John and Bessie Bajema, the youngest of 10 children. Much of her schooling was in Iowa, but she graduated from Chicago Christian High School. In 1953 she and her mother moved to the Grand Rapids area, and she began working at Zondervan Publishing House. Later she began her 22 year span at Words of Hope, and she rejoiced that she could be a part of sharing the gospel with the world. Anne had two special joys. One of them was singing in a choir. She sang in her church choir into her 80’s and sang for a number of years in the Metropolitan Choir of Praise. Her other joy was teaching Sunday school. She taught for almost 50 years. Anne is survived by her husband, Edward (Ed); many nieces and nephews; in-laws, Ruth Bajema, Ken and Dorothy Viening, Al Viening, George and Elaine Viening, Terry and Judy Viening, Henry and Norma Viening. Funeral services will be held on Thursday 11 am at First Reformed Church of Grandville, 3060 Wilson Ave. SW, with Rev. Bud Pratt and Rev. Ed Blankespoor officiating.  Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 7-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, as well at Thursday from 10-10:45 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Words of Hope or Sunset Association Resident Benevolence Fund.
