Alvin Joe Haveman

Alvin Joe Haveman, age 84, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Effie Haveman and Peter and Edith Haveman. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John, Lambert, and Earl Haveman. Al was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who cherished his family. He was a man of great faith and few words that served his Lord and his church, giving of his time and talent in many ways. He retired as an accountant working at Spartan, Family Foods, and REI. Following retirement, he enjoyed many winters together with Gladys in Florida, establishing many friendships. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Gladys (Bussis); his children and grandchildren, Vickie and Bud Van Drunen (Scott and Kelli, Craig and Mary, Lisa), Doug and Sheryl Haveman (Nathan and Alyssa, Brad and Maggie, Stacey and Phil DeJonge), Terry and Linda Haveman (Eric and Torie, Kerri and Aaron Clark, Todd and Lauren), Bob and Julie Haveman (Josh and Tricia, Megan and Luke Veldink, Brooke); 19 great-grandchildren with more soon to be be born; his sisters, Kathie and Chet Baumann, Connie and Ken Vugteveen; his brothers, Ed and Millie Haveman, Bern and Sandy Haveman; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Harriet and Jeff Boerman, Mary, Chris, and Thelma Haveman, Renetta, and Judy Bussis; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 am at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison. Interment Blendon Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW, and also one  hour prior to the service at church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sunset Manor Legacy Foundation or to the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds.
