Alton “Allie”  Nielson

Nielsen, Alton "Allie" Allie, age 70, of Grandville, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 27, 2014 while enjoying time at his son’s hunting property.  He also loved spending time at Lake Leelanau with his family.  He loved to hunt and fish, a passion he shared with his sons.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  Allie was born on September 14, 1944. He retired from General Motors in 2006.  His parents, Alton and Ruby Nielsen preceded him in death.  Allie and his wife, Sharon were married over 51 years.  He loved his sons, Kurt and Shannon.  Shannon blessed his life with two beautiful grandchildren, Faith and Nathan.  He shared his life with his sister and friend, Anne Cole; his brother and wife, Ned and Cathy Nielsen; his sister-in-law, Marcia Looman; brother-in-law and wife, Gregory and Laurie Doorn.  He also had many wonderful nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10-11 am prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to United Way or a charity of one’s choice.
