Alice Kaptein

Alice Cornelia Kaptein (Meyer), age 65, a child of God and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, was delivered to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior after a short battle with cancer. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bea Meyer; parents-in-law, Al and Marie Kaptein; sister, Helen Paladini; brothers-in-law, Dan Huizinga, Reuben Kaptein; and granddaughters, Allie and Alliese Kaptein.  She was raised in Ravenna and graduated from Unity Christian School.  Alice enjoyed volunteering at school, being room mother over the years for her childrens’ classes and playing organ at church.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed by her husband of 47 years, Al Kaptein; her children, Tom and Jana (Helms) Kaptein (Tommy, Audra, Lydia), Michelle and Brent Kuiper (Klayton, Carter, Alyssa, Kylie, Courtney, Austin, Kaden), Terry and Pamela (Kuiper) Kaptein (Emily, Madeline, Andrew, Clara), Todd and Vonda (Bleyenberg) Kaptein (Emma, Caleb, Faith), Melinda Kaptein, Melissa and Keith Gritters (Lacey, Brooke).  She is also survived by her siblings, John and Mary Meyer, Neil and Connie Meyer, Connie Maycroft; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Henrietta Kaptein, Bob and Patricia Kaptein, Marv and Kathy Kaptein, Ed and Cheri Kaptein, Dennis and Brenda Kaptein, Ruth Kaptein, Anita and Bill Roetcisoender, Carol and Dan De Meester, Sandy and Dave Ver Wolf; and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 11 am at Faith Protestant Reformed Church, 7194 20th Ave, Jenison, with Rev. Clayton Spronk officiating.  Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Covenant Christian School, Adams Christian School, or Zion Christian School.
