Alice Creek, age 93, of Rockford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Alice was a hard worker and had many jobs throughout her life. She had her own beauty salon where she cut hair for many years but if you asked her what she really enjoyed doing she would say being a seamstress was her favorite. Alice was very creative and loved to sew dresses for her grandchildren and repair dolls even when she lived at the nursing home. She also loved to spend time out on the lake swimming, sailing, and visiting lighthouses. Above all, the most important thing to Alice was her faith. She put her trust and love in the Lord all her life and made sure to pass that on to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her second husband, Lester Vandenhoek; siblings, Robert Merritt, Ruth Friberg, Reva Swanson, Jack Merritt. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rob (Kathy) Creek, Christine Creek; step daughter Judy (Ron) Lachniet; grandchildren, Autumn (Adam) Seavey, Jennifer (Aaron) Slade, Benjamin (Eliza) Schweizbach; great grandchildren, Austin Rasnake, Riley Seavey, Jack Slade, August Schweizbach; sister, Jean Streur; many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 am Friday, October 20 at Oakfield Baptist Church, 11128 14 Mile Rd. NE, Rockford with Rev. Cliff Owens officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 11 am to 1 pm at the church prior to the service. Those who wish to send flowers, deliveries can be sent directly to church or memorial contributions can be made to ProMedica Hospice.
