Alfredo will be remembered and missed by his wife of 34 years, Estrella; his children, Marie (Steve), Jenny (Vinh), Michael (Jen). His grandchildren, Kerry (Tuyet Nhu), Jericha, Joshua, Ashley, Jessica, and Jasmine will dearly miss his loving smile and constant laughter that would light up the room. He will also be dearly missed by his former son-in-law, Richard Scharphorn; siblings, Carol, Alberto (Mignonette), Roxanne (Michael), Lilia, Victor (Rhoda), James (Edna)Thelma; former brother-in-law, Rommel Manlucu; sister-in-law, Lou Pestano; brother-in-law, Benny Abadam; and many nieces and nephews.
Alfredo was loved by so many people, not only his family. He was the man with nine lives, truly half-god. He had a way of constantly showing everyone love, laughter and never gave up when it came to a walk to Walgreens or Meijer. He spent his life adoring animals, specifically his old dog, Coco. Alfredo loved to spend days walking him in rain, snow, thunder, or lightning; he was made of steel. He would take his grandchildren in Michigan on long walks to his favorite antique store, where he would spend most of his days finding cute glass dog figurines and feeding the ducks. His room constantly reminded him of the people that loved him the most, his family. Pictures that displayed his incredible grandchildren and small photos of his family were slipped under the glass of his desk. His love for Cadbury chocolate and white bread along with a warm cup of coffee (as long as it had four sugars and four creams) was always how he wanted to pass the time only when he was not dusting his display of antiques scattered around the house. Alfredo had a talent for so many small things, a fact about everything, and the memory of an elephant when it came to dates. His love for the classics and Filipino shows always had his attention. His last moments were peaceful and painless, surrounded by people that loved him more than anything else. In his final moments on this earth, he was comforted by starry nights outside his window with his wife, Estrella, and granddaughter, Jericha. The one thing he wanted most in this world was to see his mother one last time.
His family in Michigan will pay respects and say their last goodbye with a heavy heart at 4 pm on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Cremation will follow. A celebration in honor of Alfredo’s life will be held at 10 am on January 8, 2022, at City Line Church 7333 N. Caldwell Avenue Niles, IL. 60714
