The shadows of a beautiful and vibrant soul have set for Alena Layton, age 29, of Grand Rapids. Though our beloved Alena has lost her battle with dependency (addiction); we lift our heads and find joy in the Truth of the rest and wholeness she now finds in the embrace of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Our Alena loved; and was loved. Alena loved completely and wholeheartedly her precious son, Liam. Alena was a caring and thoughtful mom and loved Liam with all of her heart. Alena loved her sister, Julia, with courage, sacrifice and fortitude. Alena always made space in her life for those closest to her. Alena was loved by so many, her son, Liam; her sister, Julia; her loving parents, John and Jan; her sister, Beth (Seth); brothers, Caleb (Emily) and Sam (Ashley). She was adored by her four nephews, Austin, Caleb, Ethan, Josiah; her two nieces, Carolyn and Autumn. Alena held in her eyes a vibrance and beauty that overflowed anytime she entered a room. Her smile was contagious; and her words adventurous, inviting and without judgment. Alena had a generous and giving heart. She was a friend to all, and the friend to the one who had none. Her absence will be felt by many for their lifetime. As her loved ones, we take comfort that nothing in death, nor life, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in this created world separates us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11 AM at Magnify Church, 6727 Kuttshill Drive NE, Rockford, MI 49341 with Pastor Steve Welch officiating.
