
Aileen VanderSchuur, age 70, of Allendale, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Aileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Joe and Aileen met while backpacking in the Smoky Mountains and continued their adventure throughout the wonderful 46 years together raising their three children. Her three grandchildren were the light of her world, and she cherished the many memories over the years. The same love that she had for her family also poured out into the community, particularly through her 20+ years serving as Second Allendale CRC’s Kids Hope USA director at Allendale Public Schools. Aileen was known for showing her friendliness and kindness to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Lynch, and parents-in-law, John and Betty VanderSchuur. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe VanderSchuur; children, Allison and Brent Miedema, Jesse and Sarah VanderSchuur, Joel VanderSchuur and John Fossitt; three grandchildren, Kilyan Miedema, Gavin VanderSchuur, and Jack VanderSchuur; sister, Margaret and Ken Benefiel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jan and Doug Van Drie, Lori and Les White; special friend, Shania Pete; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Second Church, 6950 Lake Michigan Dr, Allendale with Pastor Harold Veldman officiating. Burial will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, June 23, from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. and on Monday from 10-10:45 am at church prior to the service.
