Jesus “Jess” Alvarez

Jesus “Jess” Alvarez, age 79, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Natividad Alvarez; brother, Jose Alvarez; dear friend, Janet Rathburn.  He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kevin Sage, Roberta and Daniel Alvarez, Roxanne Alvarez, Lisa Marie and Raymond Alvarez, Santos and Liza Alvarez, Jesus “Chuy”  and Andrea Alvarez; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Josie Gutierrez, Esther Garcia, Linda Bartz, Christina Alvarez, Robert Alvarez; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.  Jess will be remembered by his sense of humor.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St., Kentwood with Fr. Steve Cron Celebrant.  Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, May 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with a Rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
