Wilma Jean Beld, age 90, of Grandville, went to meet her Lord on Thursday, February 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Beld and her second husband, John Huitema; her son, Bill “Snake” Beld; and one great-grandchild. Wilma raised her five boys, stretching many dollars, and working an astounding variety of jobs, while supporting her husband on the family farm.  She was an avid golfer into her 80’s and enjoyed baking, driving fast, and her “Happy Hour” every Thursday afternoon. Wilma was an adventurous spirit, always taking advantage of new opportunities and experiences, and frequently was apprehended on one of her impromptu golf cart “escapes”. Wilma will be greatly missed by her sons and their wives, Bob and Ruth, Tom and Mary, Rick and Gayle, Steve and Laurie; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A service celebrating Wilma’s life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Chaplain Caleb Walcott officiating.  A private committal service will be held at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice in Wilma’s honor. The family would like to express a special thanks to all of Wilma’s caregivers. For those unable to attend, plans are pending for a casual memorial get-together after the “big thaw”.

Sorry to say that I lost track of Wilma over the years. I have one memory that makes me laugh often. Was having coffee at my home with Doris Cook when Wilma came busting in and said she'd been to the doctor and now felt like … Coffee switched to a different beverage and she told us how she played golf went to breakfast felt great went to the doctor and was told she had had a heart attack. She said she now felt awful. With a beverage or two and some laughter she headed home feeling much better. I never knew where she moved to and missed coffee with her and Doris.
