Shirley K. Stuyvesant

Shirley K. Stuyvesant, age 72, formerly of Grandville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Cary, North Carolina, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Shirl was born October 22, 1945, in Grand Rapids to the late Peter and Theresa (Piersma) Kingman. After graduating from Grand Rapids Christian High School, she married Jerry, who remained the love of her life for nearly 54 years. Shirl always focused on her family and friends. She could do anything she set her mind to do, whether it was running her own business or learning new technologies and skills. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nellie Kingman; sister, Donna Westrate; and granddaughter, Courtney Stuyvesant Valenzuela. Shirl will be lovingly remembered by her husband of more than 53 years, Gerald Karl Stuyvesant; daughter, Cindy Stuyvesant Paleologos (George); sons, Gregory Scott Stuyvesant (Michelle), Todd Karl Stuyvesant (Jennifer); grandchildren, Jarod Stuyvesant (Robin), Stella Paleologos, Owen Stuyvesant, and Ella Stuyvesant; great granddaughter, Analeigh Valenzuela; and brother, Albert Kingman (Marcia). Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW with Rev. Daniel Mouw officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
