Ms. Doele-Musser, My condolences go out to you, your family, relatives, and friends of Mr. Musser. Remembering back in high school working in groups my group members would always send me up to ask for help solving algebra problems. I don't know if they feared him or what, but I was always greatful for his patience working with me. As for you Ms. Doele I had you as a teacher in middle school and will always remember you awarding me the most improved grammarin student in our class. As I write this it seems like it was not long ago you both played a part of who I am today. I know he is in a better place and will be remembered by all those who were lucky enough to know him. My thought and prayers are with you all. Alberto Saenz

Dear Family, Although I have not seen Mike and the family for far too many years, I have so many wonderful memories of Tony & Mike growing up. We shared so many laughs together .He had a marvelous sense of humor and I know he will be greatly missed.

Uncle Mike was a guy who could show you how to solve for a complex math equation, then teach you how to properly think through one of life's great mysteries and still have enough in him to provide a lesson in humor that might make a New York real estate tycoon blush in front of his next future ex-wife. His passion for things intellectual was equally matched by his hearty laugh and the warmth with which he made many a niece, nephew and grandchild feel just a bit better about their day after spending time with him. Whether talking about school, friends, politics, music or Michigan, he both brought insight and, as importantly, CARED about what you brought to the conversation and made you feel important, Whether or not you were even old enough to contribute to the conversation. As I've been thinking about Uncle Mike in the last few days, more than ever I realized how much of me was, at least in part, due to his being in my life. There are obvious things, like the toilet humor we shared, or the many Saturdays spent draped in maize in blue quietly and peacefully enjoying Michigan football games... or was it hurling words at the field that were only added to the lexicon with the invention of the Urban Dictionary? There were the many trips out west to Yellowstone, where in lucky years we would meet up and enjoy a Fat Tire on the deck of the Old Faithful Inn and wax poetic about the Bison crossing the river, or an Eric Clapton song, or percentages. The first thing I learned to cook was teriyaki pork tenderloin because Uncle Mike cooked it for me, my brother and a friend on one of those trips. I loved the guitar because Uncle Mike showed me a couple of chords. In the past seven or eight years Uncle Mike always ended a phone call with, love you Guy. It started out of no where, but like all of the times I was lucky enough to spend time with him, it made me feel good. It was special because it made me feel like a special person to him. So I say back to him, Love you guy.

Mr. Musser was one of the best. I have many fond memories of his classes. I learned a lot from him. I also still have my official “I survived the Muss” pin in a box. Many awards were given in high school, but that one was definitely earned. My condolences to Ms. Doele who I also remember with great fondness.

Sad news, but what joy I feel that Mike is rid of that awful disease. I let Georgia know about the news. I remember how she and Mr. Musser had such different opinions on the importance of math. At least he passed her. Prayers for peace as you and your family continue life's journey without him.

We kids were pleased to hear that you, Ms. Doele, and Mr. Musser were getting married. Quite a match! A great math teacher and a great english teacher! For a while there, you probably had the same kids in class. I hear it now, "You wouldn't believe what Rose asked in class..." It is sad to hear how such a great mind went the way of that disease. May God see you through as well as before you met Mike. All the best to you and yours.

I will never forget him, he was a great teacher and a great man. His teaching methods were sometimes unconventional and because of that I have grown to have great respect for him. He was a big reason I became an educator my self. Ms. Doele and family may God comfort you in this time. Michael Blue
