Mary Lois Boman

Mary Lois Boman, age 73, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, 2018. Mary grew up on a small farm outside of Logansport, IN where she took care of her little lamb (intentional pun). She was a servant at heart. She loved to bake, sew, make crafts and spend time with her family. Mary was an active member of the Civil Rights movement, participating in presentations and marches dating back to the 1970’s. She made several dresses and personalized items for young girls in war torn countries. Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Lee Martin, Rebecca Ann Martin. And she is survived by her sons, Brian Olaf and Bruce Eric (Melissa) and her two grandchildren, Esther Grace and Isaac Marshall. In addition, she is survived by her brother, John Gilbert Martin. A celebration of her life will be held at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood MI 49508 on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00AM with a visitation will taking place one hour before services. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Tree Tops Collective (www.treetopscollective.org).
