Mary Alice Flanders, age 73, of Jenison, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollo and Doris Dow, and her brother, Charles Dow. Mary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put others before herself. She will affectionately be remembered as the “card lady”, always sending cards of encouragement to her family and friends. She will lovingly remembered by her husband, Don; children, Judy Hoonhorst, Scott and Cim Flanders; her grandchildren, Marissa Hoonhorst, Audrey and Devin Klein, Nick, and Matt Hoonhorst; Aubree, Emma, and Brayden Flanders; brother-in-law, Gil Flanders; several nieces and nephews. A service of celebration will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 11 am at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St, Jenison with Rev. Len Kuyvenhoven officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan or to Unity Christian High School.
