Lois M. Vander Vlies

Lois Mae Vander Vlies, age 68, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2019. Lois was born Aug 11, 1951 in Minnesota to Lawrence and Viola Citrowske. She married Craig Vander Vlies and together they had two beautiful daughters. Lois lived her life to the fullest, devoting her time to friends and family, her precious grandchildren, and her volunteer work at New 2 You Shoppe. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Craig Vander Vlies; daughters, Nikki (Jeremy) Veenstra, Christine (Rob) Jelsema; grandchildren, Aurora, Evan, and Adam Veenstra, and Noah Jelsema; sisters, Virginia (Robert) Thurler, Janet (Paul) Lems, Ines Citrowske (deceased); brother and sisters-in-law, Bruce (Sally) Vander Vlies, Marla (David) Koetje, Sandra (Ted) Conrad; and many nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday 11 am at Shawnee Park CRC, 2255 Tecumseh Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Nick Hopkins officiating.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.

Lois was the most courageous person I have ever known. This woman taught me how to live life to the fullest and to treasure each moment. I will miss her terribly. Craig, Nikki and Jeremy, Christine and Rob, Paul and I will be in constant prayer for your entire family as you try to live life on earth without this beautiful wife, mother and grandmother. Dear Family, we will all miss Lois, she was a quiet hard working woman. Enjoyed church circle and working with her a different projects had lots of laughs together. God Bless you all as you go forward, she will never be forgotten. Love to you all.
