Karl Francis Hodges, passed away with his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Barbara (Welton), at his side on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his grandson, Eric Reed.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; children, Charles and Sue Hodges, Karen and Russ Reed, Kris Hodges, Kyle Hodges; grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Sulish, Shelby (Connor) Flynn, Seth Hodges, and Jason Reed whom he had a very special bond; great grandchild, Reed Sulish; brother-in-law, Richard Welton; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Karl had a love for Caledonia High School sports and the American Legion Post 305.  He was a charter member of the Caledonia Sportsman’s Club and an avid deer hunter.  He and Barb were original members of Holy Family Catholic Church.  Karl retired from Consumer’s Power after 20 years and continued on with Hertz for another 20 years but his real passion was for farming.  He brought great joy to everyone especially through his unique sense of humor.  Karl’s family wishes to thank Legacies of Caledonia and Kindred Hospice for their loving care and concern shown to Karl and Barbara.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Monday, February 24 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft SE, Caledonia, with Rev. Loc Trinh presiding.  Burial Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, February 23, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia and on Monday from 10-11 am at church, prior to the service. A Rosary service will be held 7:30 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to American Legion Post 305 or Legacies of Caledonia.

Sorry to hear about Karls' passing. He was about 2 years older then my twin brother and I. Karl was the class of "48" and we were in the class of "50" I missed seeing him at Mass each weekend the last few years. Donald Aldrich
