I was at Oakdale Christian school when the Slendebroek family immigrated here from the Netherlands. We were the same age and John and I were in the same class - went all the way through school together. John was great guy and i always enjoyed his outlook. Remember well when he and Harriet married. His dad Tom and brother-in-law Bill Visser helped me for many years with their painting business. Great people as well. My parents were immigrants also and I always felt proud of the our Dutch people who worked hard to make new lives here in America. They made their own way, happy to be here, and were good citizens who didn't come here to be taken care of. Condolences and Gods Blessings and comfort to all of his family - he was a great guy. Sympathies to the Slendebroek family on the passing of John! I had the privilege of knowing John from my years of working at Parkview Home and taking care of Johnny. John always had such wise words to share and CLEARLY dearly loved Johnny! He will be missed!

I couldn't even begin to express to you all how much I loved and adored John. He always brought a smile to my face with his cheesy grins and sassy remarks. He truly had a heart of gold and my life has forever been changed by meeting him and all his wonderful kids that he always spoke so highly about. My prayers are with you all; he is already greatly missed around here <3

Barb. I just saw the news about your Dad. My prayers are with you all. His life is a great reflection and example to so many of what a Christian life is. I always enjoyed his stories. He urged me to be on staff support a long time ago. I always felt that he sensed something in me that he knew I could do it. A real confidence builder. He certainly had a full and blessed life. There must be a huge celebration in heaven. I certainly celebrate with him today and he will be greatly missed. Again praying for you and all. Love you guys. My heart is with you.
