John “Pat” Patrick Cox

John “Pat” Patrick Cox, age 77, of Caledonia, was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, John; his parents, Grover and Lillian; sister, Barbara and Bill Barrus; brother, Billy; brothers-in-law, Ralph Hoffman, Bill Hoogterp; parents-in-law, Bernie and Fran Hoogterp; nieces, Sarah, Cathy; nephews, Paul and Allan. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Rosemary; his children, Steve and Kerry, Nancy and Scott, Tom and Sara, Joe and Lisa, Chris and Marissa, Katie and Shawn; many grandchildren who loved him dearly; sister, Nancy; sister-in-law, Nancy Kay; brothers-in-law, Jim and Gladys, Bob and Carol, John and Carol; sisters-in-law, Kathy and Andy, Anne and Jack, Judy; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was faithful to God, his family and friends. He had a zest for life and lived life to the fullest, was always eager for an adventure and loved canoeing, camping and biking.  He was selfless and unique and always present for his family. He had a great sense of humor and kept his family and others laughing. Pat’s love of music could be felt by all who heard him sing and play the guitar, bass, and saxophone. He had so much music in him that it lives in all who were fortunate to hear him. Above all, he led by example and reminded us “What A Wonderful World” this is. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft SE, Caledonia, with Fr. Loc Trinh Celebrant. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 3 from 4 - 7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St., Caledonia and one hour prior to mass at Holy Family Church. A prayer vigil will be held Thursday at 7 pm at the funeral home following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to The Garden at Brookcrest or Habitat for Humanity.
