Gerrit Van Leeuwen

Gerrit John Van Leeuwen, age 92, of Jenison, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 10, 2020.  He was veteran of the Army and served in Korea as a medic. After the service, he had a long career with Steelcase, and retired from there.  He loved his family, his time spent hunting and fishing, and was an avid prayer warrior.  He was preceded in death by his sons, Randy and Kenneth; son-in-law, Alvin DeVries; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Van Leeuwen. Gerrit will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor; children, Jan DeVries, Gary and Sylvia Van Leeuwen, Mary and Don Postma; daughter-in-law, Terri Van Leeuwen; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Beatrice VanHouten, Marian Hoeksema, Maxine Doornbos, Neve Doornbos; many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held with burial at Grandville Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Lee Street CRC Christian Education Fund.
