Donald Fredrick Dykstra

June 6, 1944 - January 15, 2017

Our hearts are broken but we were blessed to be surrounding Don as he left this world and entered heaven. Don leaves behind his wife, who he called Loving Sweetie, Kathie of 48 years; his children, Dan (Rebecca) Dykstra, Karen (Eric) Nylen, Donald Jr. (Deb) Dykstra; two Papa loving granddaughters, Brittnie and Moriah; four strong grandsons, Raphael, Stephen (Jessica), Bryan, and Erik; four great grandchildren, Leyanna, Jason, Elaena, and Cadence; his sisters, Ruth (Henry) VerStrate and Barbra Noe; sister-in-law, Evelyn (John) Sheets; brother-in-law, Alan (Dottie) Sheets; a few he claimed as his own, David and Heather Tuffs and Ali Sheets; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. And of course, we can’t forget his faithful and loving dog, Silver. He was met in heaven by his parents, Fredrick and Dorothy Dykstra; parents-in-law, Albert and Geneva Dykstra; sister-in-law, Carol Sheets; sister-in-law, Edna Dykes; brother-in-law, Wally Dykes; and good friends, Bill and Kathy Tuffs. Don served in the Navy and met his lovely wife through letter writing. He was a hard worker at American Seating for most of his adult life. Don loved his cabin and church in Morley, MI. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with family. He missed his beloved church, Deerfield Bible Church in Morley, but desired to move back closer to family. He recently found a second church home in Solid Rock Baptist Church. He loved God and helping others. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday 11 am at High Pointe Community Church, 2976 76th St. SW, Byron Center. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 10-11am at the church, prior to the service.

Will miss "Uncle Don" (nickname) when we worked together at AMSECO. He was a great guy, and a wonderful SANTA for our grandchildren. He will be missed. Larry and Kim Cree

It is so hard to lose a loved one to death. As I read each comment I can see the love everyone has for Don. My sincerest condolences to the friends and family. May the promises at Isaiah 25:8 bring you comfort as you struggle through this time.

I have many memories of my Uncle Don. He gave of his time to lead young people to His Christ as an AWANA leader and a Youth sponsor. He was a great fisherman and one time Saved my Grandpa's life fishing, he brought joy to children and adults alike when he playedSanta Clause at various events, he gave of his time to be Driver to the sick and needy, This summer he gave a Bed to my Dad when he was injured this summer, he was a handy man- lending his skills when he could. One time he helped my husband JJ with a house project. He was a joker. I recall as a little, child that he served Deer meat at thanksgiving wondering if the family would catch on. I hope my memories can help his family remember the great guy I was able to call Uncle Don. Love you all, Sheri
