Betty (Elizabeth) Marie Miles (Malski), of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018 after 94 feisty years of loving her family and friends, embracing all God asked of her. Even in her final days, Betty lived with dignity, grace, kindness, gratitude, and a true regard for all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a lesson in hard work and humility, punctuated by her compassion for others and a wry sense of humor.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Miles, her parents, and her brothers Ray, Joe, and John. She is survived by her children, Martin Miles, Karen and Martin McPhee; grandchildren, Shannon McPhee and Kelsey and Matt Donahue; three step great grandchildren, Jasmine, Abbigale, and Logan; sister-in-law, Esther Michalski; brother-in-law, Robert Michalski; many nieces and nephews. Betty was a bookkeeper by trade, a writer at heart, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother by nature. She was President of the St. Francis Xavier Altar Society and volunteered on several church committees. She helped muster annual reunions of Louis’ WWII army company. She made the world’s best lemon meringue pie. She is loved and she is missed, but she will live on in the lessons she taught by example: how to live a good life, how to love unconditionally, and how to be tough when tough is necessary. She was the best mom on the planet.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, July 23, 2018 at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Peter Vu officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 10-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society or the Frederik Meijer Gardens.
