Ruth Bremer

Ruth Bruins Bremer (DeJongh), age 88, of Hudsonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Anna DeJongh; her first husband of 26 years, Junior Bruins; daughter, Pamela; grand daughter, Leslie Bruins; daughter-in-law, Janet Bruins, sisters, Mildred Tuinstra, Josephine VanHeest, Sadie Rider; brothers-in- law, Hilbert Tuinstra, Walter Puff, Dale Rider, and Rev. Jack VanHeest; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marguerite Bruins, Eleanor (Clare) Michmerhuizen, Marian (Henry) Rubingh, Bernice Bruins, Chester Bruins,  Morrie Bremer, Chuck Erickson, Harold (Eileen) Bremer, Joanne Bosma, Julian Aukeman, Marvin Veltema, Elwood Stillman. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 31 years, Roger Bremer; children, Larry (Lyn) Bruins, Roger Bruins, Karla Bruins, Robert (Maribeth) Bruins, Tom (Bonnie) Bruins, Diane Bruins; her stepchildren, Gary (Idanne) Bremer, Mark (Sharlyn) Bremer, Carol (Frank) DeHaan, Kevin (Lori) Bremer, Dale (Karla) Bremer; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jay (Joanne) DeJongh, Neal (Linda) DeJongh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joan M Bruins, Gert Bremer, Harry (Jean)  Bosma, Ron (Tena) Bremer, Gary (Brenda) Essenburg, Elaine Aukeman, Cornelia Veltema; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ruth enjoyed knitting and following her grandchildren on Facebook.  She was a true prayer warrior. Both Ruth and Roger were a model of unconditional love and their devotion to each other was a great inspiration. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, at 11 am at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd, Hudsonville, with Pastor Jake Weeda officiating.  Interment Blendon Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday  from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, and from 10-10:45 am on Friday at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to water wells for Kenya at Love Inspired Outreach, PO Box 355, Allendale MI, 49401.

  1. My Condolences to my Uncle Roger and my cousins Gary, Mark, Carol, Kevin and Dale along with their families. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. I also send my Mom’s (Cornelia, sister-in-law to Roger and Aunt to the children) thoughts and prayers which she has asked me to pass along.
