Nancy Jones

Nancy Jones, age 71, of Jenison was called to her heavenly home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, December 1, 2018, after a courageous 14 year fight with Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ferol Swifney; several aunts and uncles. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Burt; children, Claudia and Mark Triestram, Ryan and Erin Jones, Steven and Michelle Jones, Scott and Michelle Jones; 11 grandchildren, Cassidy, Andrew, Alec, Colin, Celia, Cody, Alaina, Jordan, Kiersten, Emily, and Jackson; siblings, Judith and Dennis Hall, Kathleen Swifney, Jerome and Sandra Swifney, Thomas and Diane Swifney; and extended family and friends. Nancy’s greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. She loved her job at Jenison Public Schools working with children, and teaching Sunday School at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Nancy was the definition of the eternal optimist and a completely selfless person. She truly loved her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Baldwin Street, Jenison, with Father Don Weber presiding. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.

I would like to thank my brother-in-law, Burt, who went above and beyond in caring her for so many years – few could have done so much for so long. She picked the right guy! To her children/their spouses, and children never forget how much she treasured each and every one of you. Although her physical presence is no longer, her love for all is eternal.
