Jared Westervelt

Jared Adam Westervelt (AKA JW), age 22, of Jenison, went to be with Jesus on Friday, August 30, 2019.  Jared was a master of film, a writer and published author. Jared brought happiness to everyone he met, especially as a barista when serving coffee at the Jenison Kids First Coffee Shop. He is joined by his grandparents, four uncles and two cousins in Heaven.  He will be forever loved and honored by his parents, Lee and Ann Westervelt; brother, Jake and sister-in-law, Colleen Westervelt, along with their children, Callista and Danny; sister, Jenny Westervelt and brother-in-law, Woody Johnson. Jared was loved by all of his many extended family members and knew he was loved by them as well.  Everyone that met Jared was considered his friend. Jared was genuine, generous, honest and happy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Pointe, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Joel Wayne officiating. Visitation time begins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in Chapel Pointe’s Cafe. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in honor of Jared. Envelopes will be available at the visitation and the service for charities close to the family’s hearts.

  20. Echoing what has already been said: last school year, my kids and I stopped regularly to order coffee and hot cocoa from Jared. All this time I had no idea that he was Lee’s son. He filled the air with so much humor and conversation of dinosaurs, jurassic park, and friendly reminders of how to be safe while taking our super hot drinks. This is a shock and a huge loss. We are so very sorry. We will continue to lift your family in prayer. He truly did make our mornings brighter. He was someone you looked forward to seeing on those dreary mornings trekking through the snow. He was intelligent, witty, honest and full of promise. Aching with you….

  23. Dear Lee and Ann,
God knew your precious son would be here on earth for only 22 short years before calling him home to be with Him in Heaven. God could not have entrusted Jared to better parents than the two of you. You loved Jared so well. He was happy because of you guys and your love for him.
We have so many great and fun memories of Jared. We are thankful for those memories and we will continue to hold them dear. I am especialy thankful for the quality time that I got to spend with Jared recently on our side by side. It was to be my last time seeing him. We had such a blast! I loved listening to him laugh and get excited as I picked up speed. As Jared put it- we went “BACK TO THE FUTURE!!”
We loved Jared, as he was a joy to be with. Mike and I will both miss him. You both remain in our thoughts and prayers.
    With much love,
    Mike and Sue Prins

  24. Ann and Lee, Jared was an early elementary student the last time I saw him. What a handsome, talented, loved and appreciated young man he grew to be since that time! I can still see his darling face as a child and recall his spirit. I am so happy that God gave him to you to be his parents. His life is a reflection of your love and care and I hope you keep that in your hearts in the days to come. I am grateful to have known Jared and you and will keep you in my prayers. I was absolutely devastated at the news of your loss of Jared’s. I can’t even begin to imagine the grief and pain you all must feel. While my heart is filled with sadness, I am encouraged to know you all “know” God. I fully believe, in time, He will continue to carry you through this catastrophic loss, day by day, through your grief, through which you will be made whole. Continue to share the love, honesty, joy and generosity of Jared. I know he radiated these, our original qualities, God intended for each of us. May God comfort, keep, and strengthen you through every step of this walk. I will keep you in my prayers.

    In his Grace, Vern

I have no words. And yet I must try. Because I need you to know that you are loved and being held in constant prayer by so, so many. I also need you to know that I’m here for you- whenever, and for whatever.
You were the perfect match chosen by God for JW. I’m certain that JW knows that too, as he smiles at you from heaven.
    Love you both. XO
