I have wonderful memories of Mrs. Spriggs. I don’t remember my childhood days without her in it. Mrs. Spriggs spent her life taking care of others, I am happy in knowing that she is in a place of rest, where she will be taken care of. Sending love to Craig and the rest of the family.

I had the privilege to know Jan first as a parent of one of her students, then as a co-worker when I was hired to teach with her at SE Kelloggsville. I will always remember how she had the students take a pretend trip to Kansas each year and how she would make real “Stone Soup” with her class after reading the book. You made a difference in the lives of many students over the years, Jan, thank you.

My deepest sympathies to her family during this time of grief. Oh Ms. Jan you were a wonderful neighbor and friend. How I miss living on Illinois Ave. and chatting with you on your daily walks. I’ll never forget the time you walked by with your sister and my son blurted our, “there’s two of you?!?” We so enjoyed visiting with you everyday. We still have all the wonderful children’s books you gave us and read them often! Thank you for being so kind to my boys and I. You are dearly missed.

To the family of Janet Spriggs, I’m so sorry about the loss of your loved one. I have lost many loved ones and know the pain. These Bible scriptures have helped me to cope: 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 mentions that God is a source of comfort; John 11:23-25 gives us the hope of the resurrection. I hope these comfort you as well.

My heartfelt condolences to all of Jan's family. She was definitely a good friend, outstanding neighbor, and asset to the community. She single-handedly signed up more neighborhood watch members than any other person - and did so while exercising her "Cadillac" walker. She was an inspiration at handling all adversity. You taught us well Mrs Spriggs!

Funny story! Mrs. Spriggs was tutoring my son in math when he was in 3rd or 4th grade. When he finally understood the concept she was explaining to him, Mrs. Spriggs said "Well! How do you like that young man?" Apparently he responded to her "That's great old lady........(upon hearing what he said, he continued) ole'lady ole'lady who!!" Instead of being upset or offended, Mrs. Spriggs said how clever and funny and quick thinking he was!!! We chuckled about that for years!! You always had a way of making lemonade out of lemons!!! You were a wonderful neighbor and friend. We will miss you!
