Henry F. DeVries

Henry “Hank” F. DeVries, age 89, of Byron Center was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Hank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Wynona “Nonie” (Bolkema); children, Ruth and Marv Veltkamp, Charles and Sandra DeVries, Wesley and Amy DeVries, Mary Lee and Jeff Anderson; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Hank was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa who cherished his family. He was a Korean War veteran, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Hank’s integrity and character was evident to all who knew him. He retired from General Motors after many years of faithful service in Human Resources. Many friendships were established there and his impact with helping others touched many. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at First Byron Christian Reformed Church, 8541 Byron Center Avenue SW, Byron Center, with Rev. Ron Noorman officiating. Interment Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, January 4, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to First Byron CRC.

  2. My condolences to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I remember the good times at Grandpa and Grandma’s house in Wyoming for Thanksgiving and for Christmas gatherings and for the reunions we had at Olin Lakes.
