Gordon L.  Arnoys, age 78, of Grandville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, September 30, 2019. Gord graduated from Unity Christian High School, Calvin College, and received his Masters Degree from Grand Valley State University. He was a physical education teacher in the Grandville Public School system, retiring after 35 years of faithful service. He also coached several sports teams, mentoring many students during his time there.  Many family vacations were enjoyed with his children and grandchildren over the years. Following retirement, Gord and his wife enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Mexico, and a train trip out west. He also was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying golf, fishing, cheering on his Michigan State Spartans and local sports programs.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Marinus and Elizabeth Arnoys; sister, Beth Van Solkema; and his twin brother, Allan Arnoys. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie;  son, Scott Arnoys (Rebecca Walcott);  daughter, Sandra (Fred) Dykstra; granddaughter, Leanne (Nolan) Raap; grandson, Bradley Dykstra; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Raap; brother, Marlan (Alida) Arnoys, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joanne Arnoys, Sherman Van Solkema, Phyllis (Henry) Vander Vliet, George (Kit) Rykse, John (Patricia) Rykse; several loving  nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 3 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Ryan Wieland of Grandville United Methodist Church officiating.   A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services or to the Humane Society of West Michigan.

Gordon and I taught together at Grandville high school for many years. He was so approachable with his ready smile and friendly manner. I will miss not seeing him in church and send sincere condolences to Marge and family at this sad time.
